Dennis
H. Cavanaugh has over 25 years of experience representing
national and international clients in the areas of intellectual property,
international trade, technology transfer and international litigation.
He has substantial experience in assisting clients in developing and
protecting their intellectual property assets, including managing
international portfolios, supervising enforcement programs, anti-counterfeiting
and stopping grey market goods. He regularly counsels clients in clearing,
registering, licensing and expanding their intellectual property assets
in the United States and internationally. He has advised clients on
copyright ownership, use, licensing and infringement. As a litigator,
Mr. Cavanaugh has tried cases involving copyright and trademark infringement,
transnational ownership of businesses and breach of contract. His
clients range from individual entrepreneurs and creators to multinational
companies.
In
the area of export controls and technology transfer, Mr. Cavanaugh
has assisted companies in compliance with the laws and regulations
of all of the relevant agencies with jurisdiction over exports of
products and technology, such as The Department of Commerce, The Department
of State, The Department of Treasury, and Customs and Border Protection.
He has worked with numerous products and technologies and has advised
clients on compliance with various embargo and sanctions programs.
Prior
to practicing law, Mr. Cavanaugh was an intelligence officer in which
capacity he was responsible for managing multimillion dollar projects
with foreign government officials.
Mr.
Cavanaugh received his J.D. degree from New York Law School in 1979
and is a member of the New York Bar and numerous Federal courts.
